Pricing
We're still building this page out. In the meantime: RunOS is completely free today, unlimited nodes, unlimited clusters, no credit card needed.
Start freePricing model, proposal
Per-vCPU + per-GB, metered
A metered platform fee on top of your own infrastructure bill, not instead of it. You keep paying Hetzner, AWS, or whoever you run on directly. RunOS meters the cluster and adds one line item for the platform.
Proposal, not live. RunOS is $0 today, unlimited nodes, unlimited clusters, no credit card. This is one monetization model under evaluation for a future paid tier, worked out in full so it can be judged on real numbers.
The rate card
Billed monthly, metered against what your cluster actually uses.
vCPU
$4
per vCPU / month
RAM
$1
per GB / month
Example: a 4 vCPU / 8 GB node costs $4 × 4 + $1 × 8 = $24/month in platform fee, on top of whatever that node costs from your infra provider.
Worked examples
RunOS fee only, added on top of unchanged infra cost. Hardware pricing is Hetzner; AWS column is the same cluster spec, no RunOS fee, for comparison.
| Cluster | RunOS fee | Hetzner hardware | Total (RunOS + Hetzner) | AWS alone | Cheaper than AWS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 nodes 4 vCPU / 8 GB each | $240/mo | $74/mo | $314/mo | $1,180/mo | 73.4% |
| 50 nodes 8 vCPU / 16 GB each | $2,400/mo | $750/mo | $3,150/mo | $11,800/mo | 73.3% |
| 100 nodes 16 vCPU / 32 GB each | $9,600/mo | $3,000/mo | $12,600/mo | $47,200/mo | 73.3% |
The RunOS fee scales with cluster size, but so does the AWS comparison: at 10, 50, and 100 nodes, RunOS plus Hetzner still comes in at roughly 73% less than running the same spec on AWS alone, fee included.
Grounded in
This is modeled directly on Porter's real BYOC management fee, $13 per vCPU and $6 per GB RAM per month. RunOS's proposed rate, $4 per vCPU and $1 per GB, sits at roughly a third of that. It's priced low enough that RunOS plus Hetzner stays cheaper than raw AWS hardware alone, not just cheaper than Porter running on top of AWS.
It's also in the same family as Northflank's metered resource pricing, roughly $12 to $13 per vCPU-month and around $6 per GB-month equivalent. Same shape of bill, lower rate.
RunOS is $0 today. This rate card is a proposal, not a bill you'll see.
