Our Beta Program is Finally Here!
Okay this is exciting. We've been working on this for a while and it's finally ready to share.
The RunOS beta program is now live and honestly, we think you're gonna love it.
Here's the deal
We know the biggest barrier to trying new infrastructure tools is needing to spin up your own hardware. It's annoying. You either need to grab a server somewhere or deal with setting up cloud instances or whatever.
So we're removing that barrier completely.
What you get
A completely free 7 day server hosted on Hetzner in Germany. No credit card required. No strings attached.
The specs are pretty solid:
4 CPUs + 8GB memory
(We might adjust these specs as we learn more during the beta, but this is what we're starting with)
What can you do with it?
Everything. That's kind of the point.
This is a full RunOS cluster. You can install any of our 20+ services. PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, whatever you need. Just click to install and it's up in seconds.
Want to deploy your app? Just add a git remote and push your code. It builds and deploys automatically. Yeah, just like Heroku used to be, except you're not locked into anyone's platform.
The new onboarding flow will set up a bunch of stuff automatically so you can start playing around immediately. No config files. No YAML hell. Just a working cluster ready for you to experiment with.
Why we're doing this
Two reasons really.
First, we want people to actually try RunOS without friction. We're building this thing because we think managing infrastructure should be way easier than it is. The best way to show that is to let you experience it.
Second, we need feedback. Real feedback from real people actually using the platform. What works? What's confusing? What features are missing? We're building this for you, so we need to hear from you.
How to join
It's simple. Sign up for the beta and we'll get you set up with your free instance. The whole onboarding takes like 5 minutes. (Watch the full setup walkthrough)
You'll get:
- Your free 7 day Hetzner server (already provisioned and ready)
- A RunOS cluster automatically configured
- Access to all our one click service installations
- Git based deployment for your apps
- Support from our team if you hit any issues
After the 7 days, if you want to keep going, you can bring your own infrastructure. RunOS works on any Linux server, whether that's your basement server, a Raspberry Pi cluster, or cloud instances from wherever.
What we're looking for
Honestly? Just use it. Install some services. Deploy an app. Break things. Try to do something we didn't think of.
Then tell us about it. What did you love? What frustrated you? What's missing? What should work differently?
A couple notes
This is beta software. Things might break. We're actively developing and pushing updates constantly. If something goes wrong, let us know and we'll fix it fast.
You get one instance per person. We want as many people to try this as possible, so please don't hog the servers. After your 7 days you can always bring your own hardware if you want to keep using RunOS.
The specs (4 CPU, 8GB RAM) might change as we see how people use the platform. We're trying to find the sweet spot between "enough to be useful" and "we can give these to lots of people".
Let's go
We're really excited to see what you build with this. RunOS was born from our own frustration with existing infrastructure tools. We wanted something powerful but simple. Something that doesn't require a PhD in Kubernetes but still gives you the full power of modern infrastructure.
We think we're getting close to that vision. But we need your help to get all the way there.
So join the beta. Break things. Build things. Tell us what you think.
Let's make infrastructure simple again.
